What is Vegetation Management
The Centrogen Concept

Weedbug (Click to Enlarge Image)Centrogen provides services into the "vegetation management" market. Vegetation management essentially is controlling the vegetation present in an area in a condition that is suitable for the use of the area.

For instance recreation areas need a portion of open space, shade, perhaps some equipment (seating, refuse disposal etc.). Roadsides are generally driven by safety requirements, no obstructions to line of sight around corners and signs, access to services such as bus stops, rest areas etc.

The desired condition of the target area given the situation and standards set by the customer can be achieved in a number of ways. In the roadside market, Centrogen's major market, historically mowing/slashing and spraying are the two major methods of vegetation management.

Centrogen Management programs take a broader more integrated approach using a combination of the Weedbug, mowing and other activities such as reseeding and fertilising.

Our aim is to provide our customer with an area or asset that exceeds their standards while requiring fewer activities to achieve this. For example, mowing requires regular activities and does not address weed control. Spraying addresses weed control but dependent on the approach will kill everything or be required in addition to mowing.
Centrogen Management Programs provide a better-integrated solution.

Achieving an effective Vegetation Management System is a difficult and complex process. We use experienced personnel and experts in many fields including:

  • agricultural science,
  • weed identification and control,
  • project and logistics management,
  • operations management, equipment sourcing and operation,
  • training,
  • transport and delivery,
  • contracting,
  • reporting and contract administration.

Vegetation Management relies on providing the appropriate activity or action at a time that provides the best result for the customer. Centrogen gathers information in rainfall and general local weather conditions, weed species identification, species measurement and graphing processes and agronomic monitoring data to maintain information and manage the vegetation for our clients.

Centrogen's management programs are designed for long term sustained improvement and maintenance of the asset. We provide clients with a managed approach to activities such as weed control. This ensures that weed treatment is undertaken at the appropriate time to achieve the best results.
